Make the tastiest dressings quickly and easily
A good dressing means a delicious salad. And it’s not at all difficult. The basis of every healthy dressing is Carbonell extra virgin olive oil, vinegar and a pinch of pepper and salt.

You can also add character to your dressing by replacing the vinegar with one of the Carbonell wine vinegars. To make the dressing extra tasty, add freshly chopped herbs such as chives, celery or parsley. And you can make a delicious garlic dressing by adding a finely chopped clove of garlic!

How do you make a vinaigrette?
You can make a classic French dressing (vinaigrette) with 6 tablespoons of Carbonell extra virgin olive oil, 2 tablespoons of vinegar, a teaspoon of mustard, a teaspoon of capers, a pinch of salt and pepper and a teaspoon of honey or sugar if required. Mix together all the ingredients except the olive oil and then add the olive oil (slowly) at the end. This will help the vinaigrette to thicken.

You can make your vinaigrette even tastier by replacing the vinegar with Carbonell white wine vinegar!

Boil or steam vegetables
When boiling or steaming cauliflower, beets or other vegetables, add a teaspoon or two of white vinegar to the water to help them keep their color. This will also improve their taste, and reduce gassy elements. This also works when cooking beans and bean dishes.

Mixed salad with olives
Cut 2 red peppers and 2 yellow peppers into strips. Then chop an onion, 1 stick of celery and 2 tomatoes. Mix the vegetables and 20 Carbonell stoned black olives and 20 stoned green olives in a bowl. Finally, stir in a vinaigrette made with 3 tablespoons of Carbonell extra virgin olive oil, 1 tablespoon of Carbonell white wine vinegar, 1 finely-chopped clove of garlic and a pinch of sugar, pepper and salt.

About Carbonell
Carbonell is the market leader in Spain, a country with a rich history of olive oil. The Spaniards have recognised how delicious, versatile and healthy olive oil is for thousands of years. As the people from Carbonell only select the very best Spanish olives, constant quality is guaranteed. The tradition and feel for quality has been found in the olive oil of Antonio Carbonell since 1866.

Everyone knows the ‘Art Nouveau’ Carbonell label from early in the twentieth century. It shows a Spanish lady from Cordoba with her hands on an olive branch. She first appeared on a poster, but she soon adorned every olive can and bottle. And she still does to this day…

Carbonell olive oil also fits in very well with Australian cooking. For example, you can use olive oil for grilling or broiling, brush meats or vegetables. It’s much healthier and tastier than frying in (liquid) butter or seeds oil! You can also use olive oil to add a simple burst of flavour to a salad. Cook healthily every day with Carbonell olive oil!

Why is olive oil so healthy?
Because Olive oil is high in oleic acid (monounsaturated fat), olive oil polyphenols and vitamin E.

Oleic acid contributes to the maintenance of normal cholesterol levels when substitute saturated fat in the diet.

Consumption of olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative damage. The oxidative damage of blood lipids may contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease.

Vitamin E is an important antioxidant and contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative damage.

These health claims have been approved by The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and are authorised by the European Comission. In addition, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a qualified health claim on monounsaturated fatty acids (oleic acid) from olive oil and coronary heart disease, as follows: “limited and not conclusive scientific evidence suggests that eating about two tablespoons -23 grams- of olive oil daily may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease due to the monosaturated fat in olive oil.”

Mediterranean diet is associated with a lower risk of chronic disease such as cardiovascular disease. The main source of fat of the Mediterranean diet is olive oil.
